The guys were looking great that day.
The ladies *Ahem* Don't pay attention to the guy in white shirt. He just wanted to be on camera all the time :P
Ying Ying brought two friends over. They are Li Ling and Wayne. Remember these pleasant looking faces because I will blog something about them in my next post :)
We wanted to try something new and different. Aaron suggested to have Thai food at Ghin Khao (literally means eat in Thai).
Ghin Khao is a two-level restaurant, with a narrow pathway, and the decor is modern and classy. We had to wait for about 10 minutes to get a table because there wasn't a table big enough to seat 12 of us!
First to arrive was Shao's Pork Spring Rolls (Popia Thod Mu). There were 4 tiny Thai style minced pork spring rolls, served with sweet chilli sauce. She said she wasn't hungry and she wanted to go on a diet, so she decided to have something small and light. Her expression changed immediately when the food arrived XD Because she didn't expect that they were gonna be THIS small :P The spring rolls were the size of a one-year-old baby's finger.
Hui Jen, Aaron, Lynn, Shao and Ying Ying ordered Tom Yum Seafood (Tom Yum Talay) to share. It came in a large bowl of hot and sour soup with mixed seafood. They were generous on the amount of seafood and other fresh ingredients like mushrooms.
Li Ling ordered something very different from the rest did. She had Soft Shell Crab & Spicy Green Papaya Salad. It's their famous dish on the menu. Li Ling let me try some of the crab. It was deep fried till crunchy perfection, and the flesh was fresh and tender.
Lynette went for Thai Style Fried Rice with Mixed Seafood (Khao Phad Talay). I liked the fried rice very much, even though it was a little oily. Again, there was an abundance of fresh prawns and veggies that served with it.
Phad Thai with Prawns (Phad Thai Goong). Flat rice noodle stir-fried with prawns, tofu, dried shrimps and peanuts.
Sim had Chicken with Cashew Nuts (Gai Phad Med Mamuang Himmapan). Served with steamed jasmine rice, and lotsa veggies.
Su Ann and Khy Lynn decided on Thai Style Fried Rice with Chicken (Khao Phad Gai).
Phad Thai with Mixed Seafood (Phad Thai Talay). Flat rice noodle stir-fried with mixed seafood, tofu, dried shrimps and peanuts.
The star of the day? I must say that is the Green Curry. The aromatic smell of thick coconut milk magically filled the restaurant once the bowlful of mildly spiced, pale green curry was placed on the table. There were chunks of chicken, red and green capsicums in it. I heart it!
Everyone was so full after the hearty lunch. Overall, I think the food is above average. I can't say that they serve the best and the most authentic Thai food. But, I must admit that this restaurant serves good and delectable Thai food at reasonable prices for such big portions.
